WHAT IS THIS? WHAT I LEARNT IN 2010! (TEXT AND PICTURES)

2010 - THE  YEAR OF UNCOMMON JOY AND REJOICING

Every year teaches different things. Every  year has its own peculiarity. I had been thinking of what I will share to wrap an awesome year like 2010. This morning, I woke up quite early even though I slept very late. I woke up with a bang - sharp and refreshed. In 2010, I found hope again. I found direction. I found inspiration. I saw and I walked in the path of wisdom. I met some and left some. I fell and I rose. Indeed, life is full of seasons. It is written

“Ecc 3:1  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

The currency we all have is time. It is the currency of the poor. It is the currency of the rich. Apart from life itself, I feel it’s the only thing that all are given equally and you can’t buy more or less of it. You cannot bribe or “settle” to get more of it.  It cannot be reduced or increased but it can be traded for shame or honor. It can be used well or abused. Time can be raped until it’s irrecoverably devalued.
2010-  THE YEAR OF THE YOUTHS!!!!

Sincerely 2010 is a switch – a toggle switch. It’s a hit! It is worth seating down and chronicling what I learnt – the good, the seemingly bad (nothing really is bad purely on its own but the way we respond to it) It could have been worse but for God’s mercy and grace.

“Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”

1.    THERE IS ALWAYS A CHANCE

There is always a chance – always another chance. In the previous years I lost (I missed may be a better word really) a  lot of chances but Heaven represented them to me this year like  a bounced check that was previously not honored and  was asked to represent. I represented them and was able to cash them.  The new opportunities did not come the way I expected but they came anyway and got same or similar/expected and desired results. There were lot of times I believed I had very remote chances and failure was imminent but heaven helped and intervened. I heard a lot of testimonies about lost and recovered chances from a lot of people during my ministry duties too!

Remember,

Isa 43:19  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
2010 - THE YEAR TO SURRENDER ALL!!

2.    HARDWORK STILL PAYS

I learnt again this year that working hard and smarter still pays! I changed a lot of my techniques and tactics about  the way work and ministry issues were confronted. They were not easy neither were they palatable but it worked like the word of God says it will.

Pro 12:24  Hard work will give you power; being lazy will make you a slave. (GNB)

Another area I saw the need to improve on is hot to work smarter at whatever I know how to do! You cannot give what you don’t have. I saw that it was safe and still a common sense investment to add knowledge to the banquet of what I already had.

2Pe 1:5-6  For this very reason do your best to add goodness to your faith; to your goodness add knowledge;  to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness;

3.    YOUTH WORKS! MAXIMISING YOUTHFULNESS ROCKS!

Ecc 9:11  I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

This year I saw the wisdom in making hay while the sun shines. It dawned on me more that there are things that one must sort out when He is young or when he is younger. There are things a woman must finish and wrap up when she is spotlessly smart, vanishingly smashing and exceptional pretty! The chances may not represent itself the same way again.

In governance, I have seen people ruling in their forties and doing well. The age bracket for relevance is changing and I needed to apply this to my life. This year, a 43 year old man became the Prime Minister of Britain! The 49 year old man still hold sway in United States. By an uncommon big dose of Good and Luck another forty something year old  man became the President of Nigeria. The President of  Russia too is a young man of 45 years.
2010 - YOUTHFULNESS ROCKS!!!
The days of looking at committee of head of states pictures and seeing only  people of Obasanjo (former Nigerian president)  and George Bush Senior (former U.S President) category seems to be fading fast. It’s obvious. The tide is changing and its common sense to adjust to the reality.

In commerce, a  young man called Mark Elliot Zuckerberg  became the Times  Man of the Year at the age of  Twenty Six. This guy is literarily ruling the world with Facebook. To know that Mark was just been born when I was entering college (university) is very humbling! It’s not just a function of the money he has but the influence he commands!

This made me to be more determined to influence the younger people more. I had always said it that if a young person can find the Lord at the age of 18-25years and get proper discipleship and mentorship- he is not likely to miss it  again. Whatever he or she becomes, character and Christ likeness will be added!

Have you wasted your youth – there is hope in 2011.

4.    YOU CANNOT CONTINUE TO CRY OVER A SPLIT MILK FOREVER

Lost some chances? Missed some opportunities? You can’t cry over split milk forever.

David lost all at Ziklag. He wept until He could weep no more. He did something that I had to draw on in 2010.

1Sa 30:6  And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

He encouraged Himself in the Lord! And He prayed!
2010  - THE YEAR OF PRAYING

There were relationships in the world of business that I had to let go! Painful – yes! They had to go! Period.

5.    RESPECT THE POWER OF INTERNET

In 2010, after several years of failed attempts we were able to get our business online. Simple things in the advanced world can be very difficult in third world. After almost three years of wanting to get a business website with some particular functions, God helped us to get what we wanted in 2010 and it made a big difference!

There is a traffic analysis tool called Google analytics. This shows who visits the site and their characteristics. Its shows you how the world works on the cyber highway. If you really want to reach more, consider how the internet can help.

Evangelistbee.com started in 3rd  Quarter 2010  and made it easier for me to reach you and share my thoughts about the Lord and the Gospel with you.

Its pleasantly encouraging when someone you do not know wakes up in  Russia, Denmark, Israel, Alaska and places like Kuwait; uses the prayer point tool for his/her quiet time and sends you  a mail to share a wonderful testimony.

6.    GOD CAN SEND YOU HELP  ANYTIME, ANYWHERE

God can use anyone at anytime.

I had always wanted to write my thoughts and express them. Another challenge I always have had in ministry was how to reach out to people I met in ministrations after I had left the meeting since I did not have a church or ministry base. I had always wanted to solve the challenge of how people could share their prayer points, testimonies with me years after I had met them. Even when I started Facebook, I knew it was limited to facebook users only. I was discouraged  from doing a full website based on my experience trying to set up a quality website for the business. I did not want to face that kind of stress again.

Out of the blues – literarily, out of the blues walks in Buky Ojelabi of http://bukville.com. She sent me a mail that she had seen some of my write-ups and she believe a web- based blog will be a better medium of expression. I was still “praying” about it when she got it started and did all the registration and setting up! In 2 days all was set to reach you and she patiently coached me and led me through the processes. She is a gem!  Coach Buky – I  am grateful.
2010 - YEAR OF DANCING

No matter how great or big you are already - God can send you help from anywhere, anytime on anything.

7.    I RESPECTED THE DEFINITION  OF MADNESS MORE

Classic definition of madness  is to do the same thing, the same way and EXPECT  a different result. In 2010, I saw the interpretation more. In business and ministry, I began to pay more attention to cause and effect. What affects what? What causes what? I saw that indeed little hinges turn big doors. A lot of times, if we can get the hinges on the doors fixed, oiled and aligned, we can turn the door faster and with less stress.

It works. Cut out some big and  less relevant projects and you get more amazing results.  Every day in 2010, I ask God how I can be better and do things better. I seek Him to know what He wants me to change! Some of them are things I have been doing  for over 10 years and I believe they were the best way until I made the changes. You might need to change the way you deal with your spouse and children.

8.    THANK YOU DOES NOT HURT

Thanks to thousands of people who took time out to visit my blog and got blessed in 2010. I am grateful for you. Thanks for the testimonies and comments you sent. Thanks for using the bullets in the prayer points sections to shoot and win! They made my world go round.
REJOICING WILL NOT CEASE IN OUR LIVES
2011 will answer to you.

2011 will favor you in Jesus Name AND YOU WILL CONTINUE TO REJOICE IN THE LORD!

In 2011, I am condemned to serve the Almighty more and please Him! Hope you will do the same.

Happy New Year From Southern California.

Don't forget to watch the 122nd Rose Parade on New Year's Day coming from Pasadena, California...only 30 miles from The Old Geezer's home :-) If you miss the live telecast, I'm sure there will be lots of reruns through out the day.
